Have you ever thought about how much your team observes you on a daily basis? Not out of mistrust - but because your behavior as a manager has a direct impact on motivation, performance and satisfaction. To give you a better feel for the video, this text gives you some information from the video.
The exciting thing: The findings do not come from individual experiences, but from an evaluation of over 900,000 employees worldwide. And the results of their study even surprised the researchers (Source).
A central result is the so-called Leader–Member Exchange construct from psychology. Studies show that the quality of the relationship between you and your employees has perhaps the greatest influence on whether you, as a manager, are capable of truly increasing the performance of your employees. Sounds simple, but it’s enormously effective.
Another example is provided by Google: They analyzed internally what their best managers do differently. The result was 8 key factors that became the basis of a leadership checklist — quasi a guide that you can use like a daily line manager checklist or “boss checklist.”
Only about 5% of the managers at Google effectively implemented all eight checklist points. Google then developed a training program based on their results, which led to an improvement of 13% - even a year later (!).
